The Karakoram Highway – from China to Pakistan

The Karakoram Highway (KKH) runs from Kashgar in Western China to Islamabad in Pakistan, and isn’t so much a highway as a ‘high road’. It took a stunning 20 years to finish the road, and even today it continues to suffer from extreme weather and environmental disasters. The KKH runs through the highest concentration of soaring mountain peaks and raging rivers in the world, and is generally considered to be among the most spectacular areas on our planet. Traveling here isn’t for the faint hearted, although transportation has improved significantly in the past decades. In October 2010 I had the chance to travel the Karakoram Highway. Although Pakistan had suffered its worst floods in recent history the same year, most parts of the road were still intact. Nevertheless, traveling the road proved a massive challenge and also a great adventure. As these events had scared off many tourists and travelers, I found myself among locals for nearly all of the time. Jessica was an amazing rider and person who’s life was tragicaly cut short in a horse back riding accident February 6th, 2008. You can read about what exactly happened that day in a blog on her myspace that her parents put up about her death. She and her horse Boomer shared a bond stronger than anything, but just like every horse, had his issues and a long time problem he had had with her – bolting away from a jump – eventually took her life. RIP Jess, you’ll never be forgotten. *No I did not know her in real life but she was still an amazing person.

Also Known as: My Fair Lady, Take Care of My Fair Lady Synopsis Kang Hye-na, the only successor of Kang-san Group, is the owner of the ‘Lady Castle’ and lives a ‘princess-like’ life with her servants. Hye-na’s parents died from a plane accident and her grandfather brought her up. Hye-na is strong-headed and selfish, whose world revolves around her because she could not experience the warmth of a family whilst growing up. One day, she comes across Dong-chan when she is carelessly driving and knocks into Dong-chan’s truck in which he is shipping flowers. She knocks out a bunch of flowers from his truck so Dong-chan goes to complain. She refuses to apologise but just gives him money. She drives away although Dong-chan isn’t satisfied. He chases after her and eventually cuts her of at the end of a road. Kang Hye-na ignores this and just drives straight into his truck. As a consequence of this he makes Hye-na do community service, kidnaps her, and appears in front of her as the new household manager. Hye-na makes every effort to throw him out from the Castle, but Dong-chan refuses to budge.However many problems are faced upon and Hye-na soon is fallen for Dong-chan.
