But after years of building loyalty, the Japanese company may have put its quality brand name at risk, at least temporarily. Toyota is recalling millions of cars and trucks around the world because of cases where vehicles have sped up unexpectedly. Last August, a driver in California was unable to stop. The crash killed him and three of his family members. Toyota says the problem is rare and caused by accelerator pedals becoming stuck open. On January twenty-sixth, the company suspended sales of eight of its top-selling vehicles in the United States, its largest market. Toyota dealers have been receiving parts to make repairs. General Motors and Ford both reported increased sales in January. But Toyota sales in the United States have fallen, and so has its stock price. Toyota says it expects costs and lost sales from its recent safety recalls to total two billion dollars by the end of March. Louis Lataif spent twenty-seven years in the car industry at Ford. Now he is dean of the School of Management at Boston University. He says this is Toyota’s biggest recall. A recall late last year involved floor mats that Toyota said could cause the accelerator to get stuck. One of the vehicles in the floor mat recall was the Prius, the world’s top selling hybrid. A ride out on ma bike, being filmed. Bike is a 2006 Hyosung GT250R. Mods include Stainless exhaust, Pirelli Sport Demon tyres, Tinted double bubble screen, R&G crash protectors, Race grips, Tank and Yoke protectors, and a few personal choice stickers. There may also be a heavy duty clutch on the bike, but unable to verify that claim, neither me nor the garage knows. Maybe find out at next service. Car is a Nissan Patrol, 3.0Ltr Turbo Diesel. And i want to point out to all the 12yr olds who may be about to tell me how to ride – Im still learning, only had bike 7wks and put less then 1500kms on it. I dont pretend to be Valentino Rossi. And then for the idiots who then say get a car its faster, this is a 250cc bike with a top speed of 160kph. The only cars i have noticed on here that are faster then bikes, tend to be already rolling, and have in excess of 700bhp! Oh and cost a shit load more than a bike! So if you dont mind, no 12yr old comments please!

47 Exotic Cars Destroyed in Fire 27 Ferraris burnt to a crisp in dealership fire. A dramatic fire at the Ferrari-Maserati dealership Munsterhuis in Holland, saw nearly fifty rare and valuable exotic sportscars literally going up on smoke. Sunday afternoon saw the prestige dealership, which also includes Jeep and Konigsegg franchises, suffer a fire which quickly took grip. Fifty six cars out of the total stock of sixty were burnt to a cinder. The majority of them, forty seven in all, were exotic sportscars. Twenty seven Ferraris were destroyed. Current models destroyed include the 360 Modena and Spider F1, Challenge Stradale, 575 M Maranello F1 and 612 Scaglietti. Famous past models include a 1971 365 GTB ‘Daytona’, a 1984 512BB, a 1990 and a 1991 F40, and a 1987 Testarossa. 308 GTB, 308 GTS, F355 GTS, F355 GTB, 348 GTS, 348 Spider, the list rolls on. Ten Maseratis were also fried. Other prestige sportscars to be destroyed include two Lamborghini’s, a rare Konigsegg, as well as several historic racing cars. A Dutch Fire Brigade spokesman confirmed that security precautions in place to satisfy the insurance regulations, which saw all the cars locked up, prevented the firemen from moving them, and with it the possibility of saving any. The insurance claim is expected to run into several tens of millions of euros. This is Bradk12fan’s Tribute to NASCAR pioneer and World War II Veteran Wendell Scott. Wendell originally started racing on The Dixie Circuit, a NASCAR rival, as their ‘gimmick driver.’ He would go on to win 127 races on the Dixie Circuit, but was never able to compete in a full season as some track promoters would not let him race. Wendell attempted to start his 1st NASCAR race in April of 1961, but was unable to when the track promoter refused to give him for gas. The next weekend Wendell met Bill France Sr., and told him what happened, Bill then pulled out his wallet and handed Wendell . France told him, “You a NASCAR member now, and you will never be treated like that again.” Some drivers and fans grew to respect Wendell, while others would go out of their way to crash Wendell. Wendell would receive help from several drivers including, Richard Petty, Glenn ‘Fireball’ Roberts, Ned Jarrett, and many others. In 1963 at Jacksonville, Florida, Wendell won by ’2′ laps over Buck Baker in a car bought from Ned Jarrett, with a used engine donated by the Wood Brothers, and competing with money loaned from Richard Petty. NASCAR originally flagged Buck Baker as the winner because the track promoter did not want to have Wendell kiss the white beauty queen. Wendell protested and several hours later was awarded with the win, and the winnings, while Buck Baker kept the trophy and the acclaim of fans.
